RIP Dave. You helped with my bowel surgery and sorted my wife’s breast lump. We owed you a lot. Dr John Leigh

So sad to hear of David’s passing. He was my wife’s consultant from 2003 onwards until his retirement. The level of support he gave to my wife after she was diagnosed with breast cancer only 7 weeks after giving birth was incredible. He also ensured that she got the best of care, following a second, and thankfully unrelated diagnosis, just under 3 years later. I dread to think of the trouble he got into from the Trust as a result of the number of scans he gave her to allay her fears and understandable anxiety at the slightest twitch or pain. Just shows how he would always go the extra mile for his patients irrespective of the potential implications for himself. Condolences to and thoughts with his nearest and dearest. He helped to save countless people with his skill, warmth and unwavering support as my wife can still thankfully testify to! Thank you Mr Browell!

I only met David on a few occasions, but what a character he was. A master 'medical raconteur' at the dinner table. He will be missed by so many.
