Sorry to hear of Jonathan's passing as he was a big influence on my growing up and sailing over 50 years ago. Jonathan taught me how to sail upwind (with eyes closed) in the mid-1970s in Canada (Kingston). After the races, and being a minor, I would often sit with his wife Sheila outside the club bar telling imaginative stories to each other whilst the sailors sat inside telling each other even more wild stories. Our families reconnected after a multi-decade hiatus about a decade ago. Shortly thereafter, Jonathan made the journey back to Kingston when my Dad passed away. Since then I'm so happy I was able to exchange emails with Jonathan a couple times each year. I'll miss Jonathan dearly and his descriptive notes on his Wales' sailing adventures and his wonderful writing style. Robert Mahood, Canada

So sorry to hear of Jonathan’s death. I have known him for nearly 30 years during which time he helped me both improve sailboats with quality sails, sail covers etc.We enjoyed both his and late wife’s Sheila’s company sharing food and a good bottle of wine. Restvin peace Simon Tilley
