One of a kind!! Nickname king 😄 A fantastic, inspirational teacher. Always funny when he answered the staff room door with cards in one hand and a fag in the other. Totally unforgettable teacher. RIP Peanut.

So sorry to hear about Ian. He was a ‘one off’.

I’ve many fond memories of shared sports facilities, trying to ensure the girls got as good as the boys. One day I ordered him out the gym ,when I later realised it was his turn to be there, he accepted my apology kindly.
My children remembered one memorable GCSE PE lesson, when Louis Bainbridge had an “accident” with a javelin, I’m amazed he didn’t have a heart attack then!
He gave many students nicknames, when I asked him why, he said he could remember them easier than their proper names. I often wondered if he had one for me, but was too afraid to ask!
Ian loved his Rugby, Softball and Cricket. It was always the highlight of the season to have the staff v student Cricket match, I still have many photos. He was a real character.

Rest in peace Peanut, fond memories of PE. Winding me up by calling me Lizzzza, instead of Lisa, which resulted in you calling me 'Z' hehe!

I remember him teaching me in the 2000 he was a lovely person

A valued colleague,fond memories of some hilarious times which could never be repeated in today's educational climate. Because of his less than athletic shape he was underrated by those who never saw him teach. He was a knowledgeable and gifted teacher and the comments from former pupils are testament to that.Great memories of school cricket,soccer and rugby. Summer softball and lunchtime nets,great emories. Rest in peace Ian.
