An absolute tragedy that this lovely, caring and helpful lady has been taken from our midst. As has already been stated we would go into her shop for a moment...yes moment...and 2 hours later we would emerge laden with lamps and goodness knows what else. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family and friends. Gone but will never be forgotten. RIP Jan. Xxx

I was saddened to discover Jan had passed. She used to sell postcards and greetings cards of mine from the Barn Owl Bothy, even after I moved away from the area, and helped her with her marketing from time to time. Positive memories of dropping by the shop for 'just a few minutes', but ending up spending an hour as she animatedly described projects she was working on. So full of life, so yes a shock.

I knew Jan for many years. We started the Barn Owl Bothy together in Dornoch. I stepped back from the business and Jan took over the reigns and she made BOB thrive with her enthusiasm, artistic talent and wanting to support other artisans. She was a great salesperson and loved chatting to the customers. She was a warm and friendly person and whenever we got together we would always have a good laugh. A very positive, kind, empathetic and helpful person, Jan helped me through some hard times in my life. I just cannot believe she has gone. I am so upset that I am unable to attend her service due to family commitments, but my heart goes out to Darren a her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
