It was my pleasure to have met and worked with David when he was the County Councillor for Uttoxeter. He became a good friend and I will miss his knowledge and sense of humour. Rest in peace David.

Mr Brookes gave of himself without expectation or gain. He helped me many times on issues wide ranging. He spoke as he saw it. We did not agree on every issue but that didn't matter. A good man who loved his town and the people in it. I'm sorry I could not attend your funeral Mr Brookes but I was in hospital.

Remembering You today David, one of my fondest memories remembering you as a 'lad' sat driving a tractor (a very old style one at that ! ) when we were all very much younger, you have smiled all your life as far as I have seen and your kindness to my Mum on many occasions when she had the garage at Aldery Bank never went unoticed. What a splendid Gentleman you grew up to be and I know all of our family will miss you physical presence in this world. You have left an equally resilient family to carry on the legacy that you yourself carried on so dutifully from your own Father. Sending so much love to your entire family, Nerina and Matt, Vervena Flavell and Family
