I greatly valued my friendship with Graham and when he was no longer able to drive to Swansea to watch his beloved Swans it gave me enormous pleasure to act as his chauffeur. A shy almost diffident person, few would realise that he had enjoyed a distinguished career in academia and on the playing field where he had won a Welsh Amateur cap. I knew because I was there at the last game at The Vetch and observed how the great Spurs winger Cliff Jones greeted Graham as an old friend. He was also a wonderful source of new reading material and introduced to me to authors and poets I would otherwise have never read. I shall miss him greatly and Siân and I send Ina and all the family our sincerest sympathies.
