James DuckettHARTLEYIt is with great sadness that the family of James (fondly known as Jim) announce his passing after a long illness patiently born. He died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Friday 30th May aged 86, with his wife of 56 years Kathleen, son Philip and sister Barbara by his side.
Jim qualified as a chartered engineer, having been an apprentice at Howard & Bulloughs where he worked for 30 years. He then took up employment at Goss Graphics in Preston designing and developing printing presses for the newspaper industry until retirement n 2000. Jim was born and raised in Accrington, was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church and latterly St Joseph's in Accrington. He was a passionate supporter of local sports including Enfield Cricket Club where he was a committee member, and season ticket holder at Accrington Stanley.
He leaves behind his loving wife Kathleen, son Philip, daughter in law Jayne, grandson Jake, sister Barbara, brother in law Gerry, and nieces and nephew Alex Martin & Madeleine.
A date is yet to be set for the funeral which will be held at St Joseph's Church Accrington, followed by cremation at Accrington Cemetery.
Family flowers only, with donations welcome to the British Heart Foundation and Asthma & Lung Uk in memory of Jim.
