We have known Tony for more than 50 years and spent many happy hours together. Most of these would have been after we emigrated to Canada in 1980. Tony always made us welcome when we visited the UK and Terry and Tony spent many hours talking music and guitars. They shared a love of 70’s and 80’s music and were both interested in the variety of guitars played by Tony. He was always willing to drive us around the area and help Lesley reminisce about places from her childhood and teenage years. Hope Tony finds a left-handed guitar in heaven that he can play to his hearts content!💕🎸

A Tribute to My Dear Friend Tony

It’s hard to believe you’re gone, Tony. You were more than just a friend to me — you were like family. From the moment I arrived in the UK and joined the Photography Society in Hull, you welcomed me with your big heart and open arms.

I’ll never forget how much you helped me through the early days — those uncertain moments after graduation, before my first job. You invited me to stay with your family, and during a time when I felt quite alone, you made me feel like I belonged. That kind of generosity stays with someone forever.

You were always thoughtful. When Christmas came around and I had nowhere to go, you brought me into your family celebrations without hesitation. And when I started dating my girlfriend here, you gave me honest advice, a listening ear, and even offered to drive us around — you just always showed up.

When I moved to Warwick, you helped me pack and settle in. Later on, I was so happy to host you in London. We had such a great time exploring the city together, especially during the Notting Hill Festival — laughing, taking photos, and just enjoying life.

You had a way of bringing joy to those around you — always friendly, sociable, and full of warmth. You made people feel seen, supported, and cared for. I’m truly grateful for all the time we shared, and I’ll hold onto those memories for the rest of my life.

To the Roach family — thank you for the love and values you shared as a family. Tony was a reflection of that warmth and kindness, and I’m so grateful to have known him.

With love and heartfelt gratitude,
Vincent Leung
