MariaSTANNARDMrs Maria Stannard passed away peacefully at Hill View Care Home, Rawtenstall, on Wednesday, June 18, aged 89 years. A Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at St. Joseph’s and St. Peter’s RC Newchurch at 12pm, followed by Interment in Bacup Cemetery at 1.15pm, conducted by Fr Stamp. The reception will be held at the White Bull, Crawshawbooth, from 1.30pm. Maria was a beloved wife to Donald, loving mother to the late Timothy, Paul, and a much loved grandma and great grandma. She ran several businesses including an off licence, betting shops and chip shops before taking on The Royal Hotel & Club Royale for more than 30 years. She also owned Horace’s nightclub in Bacup and helped at The Hargreaves Arms in Lumb. She was known for her singing, laughter, funny stories and love for her family. She leaves behind her son Paul; daughter-in-law Judith; grandchildren Emma, Paul, Louise, Jonathan, Lisa and Emily; and great grandchildren Tim, Ruby, Joel, Jonah, Jaxon, Lola, Lia, Koen and Zlatan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Macmillan Cancer Support – a charity very close to Maria’s heart. Maria will be dearly missed by all who knew her and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Funeral director: Anthony Johnson Funeral Services.
