I have been fortunate to have known and been a friend of Martin for over 50 years, initially through meeting at work but mostly through our annual January walking weekends in Scotland, although in recent years we gravitated to lower hills as age stiffened the joints. Still coming to terms with his sudden passing but many happy memories and photos from the Scottish and many other trips. Almost always we could rely on Martin to enliven the weekend. I will miss his humour at out fortnightly and monthly old railway boys meetings and chats. Bob Yorke
