The obituary notice of Philip Ian ALVESTON

Mr Alveston was my Art teacher at school. I am sorry to hear of his passing away. He was there for me at a time I needed the most and I won't ever forget him. "Move those shoes Hughes" he used to say. I went on to study performing arts/acting and drama. I will never forget him telling me that everything is art Emma, life is Art. And it really is. I speak of him to this day. Rest in Peace my friend. Xxx

Ian was my school Art teacher, and I really had so much respect for him - he was a really great teacher,! I am so sad to hear of his passing - I have followed a creative path since leaving school, it was thinly subject that really interested me... I am now 30 and I am studying art therapy.., Mr Alveston really was a really great and inspiring art teacher - The years studying GCSE art were some of the most fortunate and formative years of my school history.
He always held so much positive regard for me and the rest of my class mates - he really encouraged us to be interested in Art.. and really really was the best teacher..

What an amazing, talented teacher you were. I used to look forward to double art at St. Hildas with you, what with your whitty sense of humour and your interesting lessons who wouldn't. You'll never be forgotten.

So sad to hear of Ian's passing.
We were young teenage friends and neighbours in White Ash Lane,Oswaldtwistle with fond memories of learning to play guitar together.

Ian was a friend and neighbour in Maudsley Street and did some great drawings of our then 5 year old daughter Rachel.
Enjoyed some laughs and good times in the Boars Head.
Also enjoyed his guitar playing along with Pete Eddleston at Strawberry Studious in Stockport.
Another good one gone, rest in peace Ian thanks for the memories.
