I always enjoyed spending time with Jean and Don and had grown very fond of them over the years.

Jean was kind, caring and welcoming. Whenever we visited their home, she was always busy making sure everyone had something to eat and drink and was being looked after. I honestly don’t think I ever saw her sit down! I also remember Jean’s long chats in the kitchen, she could probably talk for as long as I can! But I always enjoyed listening to her.

Jean always spoke happily and fondly about her children and grandchildren, often sharing memories of them when they were little. It was clear how much she loved and cared for her family.

One thing that always stood out to me was the care and devotion Jean showed to Don. She looked after him for as long as she possibly could, still cooking him proper dinners even as she became more frail herself. It was lovely that they were able to spend their first years in the care home together.

One memory that will always make me smile is finding Jean’s teeth under her bed at the care home. They may have been there for a little while, but when I showed her, she was delighted and promptly put them straight back in. I think Jean would have found that funny too.

Andrew will miss his Grandma, and Holly loved her Great Grandma very much and is thinking of her too.

My thoughts are with Jane, Diane, David and all of Jean’s family. I hope that Jean and Don can now rest peacefully together.

Rest in peace, Jean. You will be remembered fondly and missed.
