AUDREY THORPETributes were paid to Melton mother Audrey Thorpe who died in a car collision on 19 March, 2010, aged 47.
Mrs Thorpe was manager of the 90-room Ringshill Care Home, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
She was on her way home from work when the collision happened.
She left husband Mike, daughter Helen, 16, and son Peter, 19.
Mike said: "She was the most wonderful wife and mother. We are a big tennis family and our social lives revolved around Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club, in Melton. She was born in Little Dalby and lived in the Melton area all her life."
The couple used to own Copper Beeches care home, in Warwick Road, in the town, before selling the business in 2005.
Mr Thorpe said: "When we sold it Audrey was head-hunted by Four Seasons, a major player in the industry. She was their number one manager. She had just opened a dementia unit at the home – it was her initiative.
"She was a wonderful, caring lady who was superb at her job.
"We had an absolutely wonderful life and would have been married for 25 years next year. She was my life. I adored her. We miss her immensely."
John Crosby, chairman of the tennis club, said: "Mike and Audrey joined in 1995 as steward and stewardess.
"All the members of the club were extremely shocked and saddened to hear of Audrey's death. Everybody is stunned."
Adrian Pancott, operations director for Four Seasons Health Care, said: "Audrey was loved and respected throughout the company and everyone is in shock.
"She was a warm and caring person and an exemplary home manager.
"She will be greatly missed by her colleagues and the residents she cared for."
