I first met ‘Mr Bailey’ 12 years ago, in the latter part of his life. I was asked to repair his shed roof, and that’s where our friendship began. Over these years, we had so much laughter and so many stories told. His early life in Dawlish, his antics in boarding school, army life in Egypt and his professional life. He was always full of stories, and I would sit with him, over a cup of tea (and 3 biscuits) for many an hour reminiscing. He was such good company, and was always guaranteed to say something ‘avant guarde’. I will so miss his stories, his company and time spent with him. He was such a character. I will so miss him.
