My special memory of Pat is when she flew over to Australia to visit. We went to many places but the best one was when we went to Ayers Rock and Pat decided that it would be fun to climb up it, which was good except, that going up was easy but coming down not so great, but with much encouragement from me we managed to get down safely.

I don't want to write anything here that is empty platitudes.

I want to say something special.

Because Aunty Pat was so special to me.

I have so many special memories.

All from when I was a child.

But what's so special about a child's memories? About what a child thinks and feels?

I remember her hugging me.

I remember being with her in her kitchen in Cedar St.

Sitting on a stool in the kitchen.

My bottom warm on the radiator.

Just chatting with her and watching her.

Getting her children out of the house in the morning.

Cooking Uncle Peter's dinner in the evening.

Her listening to me.

She gave me her arms and her ears.

I was never a chore.

I was never too much.

Unconditional.

Love.

------

She didn't get me a Xmas present every year, but one year she did.

I'd been struck down by Snoopy fever. (It stayed me with all my life..!)

We used to watch that one good kids TV show that was on after school.

We used to watch Heidi.
Or Blue Peter.

One time on Blue Peter they did a feature on the Snoopy craze.

They had all the paraphernalia on display - mugs, bedspreads, books, posters and all the cuddly toys. (I ended making a career in this industry...! )

That Xmas Aunty Pat bought me a poster.

It went up on my wall and stayed there.

It was a picture of Snoopy.

It said,

"Sometimes you can't put feelings into words"
