Dad, losing you has left a hole in my life which can never be filled. You have always been by my side, supporting me, guiding me and what laughter we have shared at times. I hope my words tomorrow do you proud, although no words alone can capture the person who you were. I will always be amazed and humbled at the way in which you dealt with your illness, you never lost your ability to laugh, joke or your passion for life. I hope more than anything now, that you are resting and you are at peace. I will miss you always my friend, your devoted son. Phill

What I can say other than my heart is broken. My dad was the best. I know that’s easy for anyone to say and people will think he’s bound to say that it’s his dad. No he was the best. My dad was always at my side, every step of the way. He never put any pressure on me just asked me to do my best and try my hardest. That I did and will continue to as well. We couldn’t wait for a Saturday or the next Vale game. We went everywhere together win, lose or draw. To see the joy and excitement on dads face at every game will never leave me. Dad took me and Phill everywhere. To play football, cricket, golf or his favourite hobby to go fishing. He loved his fishing. Dad was so dedicated, so committed to everything he did and would never do anything unless it was the best. It had to be spot on. The last few years have been so difficult for us all. To see your dad struggle as we have, to see my mum care for dad has been both heartbreaking and inspiring as rarely do you see such devotion to look after someone. I cannot say thank you enough to my mum for how she looked after dad and gave us so many more precious memories together. Dad I miss you mate, I miss you more than any words can ever say. I’m struggling without you. I have a football final to referee soon and the first thing in my head was I need to tell my dad. Rest now dad, it can’t hurt you anymore. I love you so much dad and I will forever cherish the memories we had together.xxx
Chris
