I miss you grandma, it feels like the end of an era. Now Margaret is with you and Grandad.

Thank you for being the most kindest loving person I've ever known. I have nothing but great memories of you.

One of the happiest places I've ever been is in the passenger seat of your car as you drive me to school listening to your stories and wisdom.

I love you. Calum.

I’ve recently found out that Joan had passed away. I knew her and her husband Alan through the Labour Party although I live in the south of the borough of Hillingdon in West Drayton. They were both great stalwarts of the Labour Party in Hillingdon and good friends and political colleagues. My favourite memory of Joan is when Labour won control of Hillingdon Council in 1994. Joan was elected as the Mayor of Hillingdon in 1996 and in 1997 when there was a Labour landslide government elected, we had a celebratory few glasses of wine in our garden in West Drayton. Joan and Alan were both there and our three children were playing in the garden when Joan handed them the Mayors ceremonial gold chains to wear while they were running around playing. So my three then quite young children all took turns wearing the ceremonial chains while chasing each other full pelt around our garden on a quite sunny afternoon. That was Joan and Alan. A wonderful caring and very unstuffy couple who loved treating our kids to a bit of fun. Our sincere condolences for Joan’s passing. Neither she nor Alan will ever be forgotten by us. X
Lee and Beverly Griffin.
