Although our close friendship was mainly restricted to early years in Newport, we kept in touch, albeit too infrequently, along the way thereafter.

My fondest memories of John will always be of playing football and cricket when he was Peter Broadbent or Len Hutton, through to years later when he first and proudly drove his mini car. Thankfully, by then, he was far too kind a man to re-live the racing days of Stirling Moss.

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of John's death. A genuinely good man who has, undoubtedly, added pleasure to the lives of all of us who knew him.

Condolences to Kath and the family.

I met John through work. I wish I'd have met John years earlier. A great man to work alongside and a man everyone loved and respected. I'll miss our chats and texts and all of the banter we shared, especially when the conversation turned to Wolves and Stoke..Rest in peace my friend xx

It was a pleasure to work with John. He always brightened my day. And since then we've had many a cheeky conversation through the power of social media. He was a lovely character and will be very much missed. Rest in peace John xx
