BrendaBURKINA familiar face around Tonbridge will be sadly missed having died peacefully on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 aged 88.
Brenda Elizabeth Myhill was born in Paston, Norfolk on 24th December 1936, the youngest child of Dora & Cyril Myhill.
She had a sister, Jean (Giddy) who died when a young girl in 1935 and a brother Eric who died in 2010. The family moved to North Walsham, Norfolk where Brenda attended the secondary school.
She met her husband to be, John Burkin from Kent, when he was on National Service in the Royal Air Force in Norfolk. They were married on 5th October 1957 in North Walsham before setting up home in Tonbridge.
Mr & Mrs Burkin had four sons David, Andrew, Gary and Robin and five grandchildren Sarah, Matthew, Rowanne, Harry and Amy. The family lived in Barden Road for 40 years before moving to Longmead Way.
They did many things they had always planned to do including returning to the Isle of Wight where they had spent their honeymoon, a trip on the Orient Express, a holiday to the Channel Islands and other holidays with family and friends. John sadly died in 2002 but since then Brenda has had numerous trips abroad to Egypt, Malta and Trinidad & Tobago to name a few. One of her favourite memories was a flight in a Spitfire at the age of 81.
Brenda was a well-loved member of the community and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a good friend to so many. We all miss her so much.
The funeral service will be held at Tunbridge Wells crematorium on Monday 28th April at 15:15. Family flowers only.
