BrianCARPENDALEBrian Carpendale, aged 88, passed away on Saturday, November 7, at Royal Blackburn Hospital. He was born in Rawtenstall to Frank and Gladys Carpendale, and was the elder of two children. Brian attended Alder Grange High School and Burnley Technical College. He married Ethel in 1955 and they had two children. Most of his working life was spent at the British United Shoe Machinery Company, initially as an engineer and later as a technical representative. Brian touched many lives through his 62 year involvement with Edenfield Cricket Club, where he served as a player and committee member, and will be forever remembered for his work as groundsman. He was a much-loved husband, dad and granddad and will be sadly missed. Brian is survived by wife Ethel, children Anne and Michael, grandchildren Emily, Sarah and James, and sister Joan. The funeral took place at Burnley Crematorium on Wednesday, November 18. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Research may be sent via Knight and Boys Funeral Service.
