Bernard ErnstCARROLLAged 75 years.

We are very sad to share that Bernie Carroll, much loved husband of Steph, uncle to Michelle, great-uncle to Jake and treasured friend to many across the world, peacefully passed away at home on 16th June 2025 after a long illness.

Creative, sharp-witted and always rebellious; Bernie brought laughter and good times to everyone lucky enough to know him. He has left a timeless footprint on this world and a huge gap in our lives. We will miss him more than words can say, but grateful for the wonderful memories he gave us.

Service and cremation to be held at Springwood Crematorium on Wednesday 2nd July, at 3pm.

Family flowers only.

Thank you for having been my friend for so long.

For midnight conversations, for granting me permission to try myself at your pub-poster business in Kent & Cologne (I couldn't do it, they just wouldn't sign up) for looking out for me so often, for including me in your life and for sharing your friends with me.

I loved your outlook on life, your way with words and your humour. You lived life well and by example. I will miss you, very much.

I am so glad for this banana poem video that you sent a while back.

I hope they have tobacco wherever you are now.
Keep sending letters.

You are so loved by us all.

Kirklands, maybe, where I first met you, a long time ago. You have been such a great friend. Thank you Bernie. Ade.

I will miss Bernie both as a neighbour and a good friend. Our house won’t be the same without him. I have such fond memories of the first lockdown and the time I got to spend with him and Steph in our garden. Bernie would sit making things with discarded wood. My particular favourite was the bird house with a typical example of Bernie’s unique humour inside it. He went on to make wooden boxes and created his own tobacco plantation in a section of the garden. I will think of him whenever I pass a Tabac in Spain and will miss making my special delivery to his and Steph’s flat. His offbeat humorous texts saw me through many a dark time. I was very fortunate to have Bernie as a neighbour and I will always remember him with great fondness. My sympathy to Steph; her and Bernie were a great team. Condolences to wider family and friends.

Liverpool will never be quite the same without you Bernie. Your wit, humour, many talents and utter individuality have so enriched our lives. You were a one-man band, a one-man cafe society, a truly one-off.
You will be so sadly missed by us all Uncle Wiggly none more so than by your beloved Steph. Do widzenia, farvel, tot ziens, zaijian, paka-paka, auf wiederschen and goodbye x

Dear Bernie, good and faithful friend since the early 70s, more than 50 years. So many memories, advice, to each other, including choosing the right partner...he did... 😁 Advice and great laughs. Peace at last to you. Much love. Lynne ❤️
