Sian, Sian was the most optimistic, Hopefield person I knew. She didn’t have an easy life, but she always always looked on the bright side. she was such a bright bright light! Since she’s gone, the world‘s glow has significantly dimmed. She was beautiful inside and out. She has left a hole in so many peoples lives. I think she has the most friends out of everyone I know. Since she passed the quote, ‘it’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved it all’ has been on my mind and heart. I count myself very lucky to have known and loved you, Sianie. I’m just devastated that you have gone like so many. I will continue to pray for your babies, Toby and Lucy to the day I join you in heaven.

When Sian entered a room, she filled it with her presence. When people were down, she always tried to help. With me, she sent a poem - Rest Here Awhile by Donna Ashworth. It was helpful to me. I hope it is helpful to Sian as she rests and her family and her friends who mourn her. I feel honoured to be one amongst her friends.

Rest here awhile
you have walked a rough road
and you scarce held
a comforting hand

you've known so much dark
and you wrestled that load
drop it here
because I understand

rest here awhile
you're no longer alone
and there's much pain
for you to unpack

you've faced stormy nights
and you've more up ahead
but I'm here now
I'll stand at your back

rest here awhile
there's no pressure to be
just a place where your heart
can crack open

let your scars be on show
I have scars of my own
we need not be ashamed
of our broken

rest here my friend
you are safe now at last
release all the fear
from your heart

breathe out all the way
let light warm your face
it is time for your healing
to start
