RaymondCROMPTONIt is with deep regret and sadness the family announce the death of Mr Raymond Crompton on Jan 29, 2017, aged 80. Born in Georgetown, Merthyr Tydfil, Sept 11, 1936, Raymond went on to join the Royal Air Force in 1954, serving on an All Weather Night Fighter Squadron at RAF North Luffenham. While stationed at Amman in Jordan he visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre where he received a Certificate of Pilgrimage on May 20, 1956. On leaving the RAF, having been awarded the General Service Medal, Raymond worked as a buyer for Teddington Aircraft Controls and joined the Air Cadets as a warrant Officer before emigrating to Canada in 1965. There he joined 411 (Grizzly Bear) Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force then returning to the UK in 1971 and retiring as a member of 32 & 249 Squadron Association, the Royal Air Force's Association, and the Royal British Legion. The funeral service with be held on Monday Feb 13, 11.15am at St. Tydfil's Old Parish Church, Merthyr Tydfil, followed by interment at Ffrwd, Cefn Coed Cemetery, Merthyr Tydfil at 12 noon.
