Just wanting to write some tribute words for Gethin. I have known Gethin, as his line manager, whilst he was in the Early Intervention and Prevention team and the Over the 25 Disability team.
Gethin was such a well thought of colleague and friend to so many people. He started off his career working at Canolfan Yr Orsef Day Service supporting people with disabilities. He then became a specialist in dual sensory assessments for individuals that were deaf and blind and he trained in sign language to a high level.
He was then selected to become a trainee Social Worker something he was very committed to achieving, he was so proud to be given this opportunity. He demonstrated such strength of character, determination and commitment to complete his Masters in Social Work, achieving a distinction level. He then completed the consolidation, also achieving a distinction grade. The whole department could not have been prouder of Gethin and he was so proud to become a Social Worker and such a distinguished one he was.
Gethin was a much-liked and respected colleague, a friend and someone we all turned to for advice and support. He was a great sounding board and was a great team player. Gethin had an ability to build up relationships and sustain meaningful connections with those he came into contact with.
On a very personal note Josie I can honestly say Gethin loved you more than words can describe, he had such admiration for all you did for charity and for the love you both had for the boys. He felt you were so brave and so positive throughout his cancer journey and I believe you gave him the strength to fight for as long as he could. He was so very grateful for everything you had done for him. Gethin was so proud of all you had achieved together, your Fostering Career providing such love and support to so many children. Finally to the incredible journey you have both been on adopting and loving Jordan and Phil. Being a Dad meant so much to Gethin. Gethin will be sadly missed
