RonnieENTWISTLEof Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 18, aged 89 years.
The devoted husband of the late Mary, loving dad of Ronnie and Lynne, dear father-in-law of Denise and Tony, cherished grandad of Mark, Stephen, Graham and Louise, great-grandad of Ben, Jack, Henry, Arthur, Amelie, Daisy, Alfie and Layla.
Ronnie served his apprenticeship at Rothwell’s Engineering Company at Church. A talented and passionate footballer in his youth, he also signed on as a part time pro. at 16 for Blackburn Rovers, playing in the reserve team until an injury at 19 brought his playing days to an end, Nonetheless, his love for the game and for the Rovers, never wavered and he remained a lifelong supporter. Ronnie continued his working life as a fabricator and went on to establish his own business J.R. Fabrications in the late 1960s.
Ronnie married his childhood sweetheart, Mary, whom he met while still at school. Together they shared a long and happy life, filled with countless cherished memories. They loved to travel and enjoyed foreign holidays, especially to Spain for some well-earned rest and relaxation.
Closer to home, they also enjoyed holidays in St Annes and many coach tours. They enjoyed socialising with friends and loved spending time with their grandchildren and in more recent years seeing their great grandchildren who gave them both enormous pleasure.
Ronnie’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at 11.40am at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington BB5 6HA.
