Diane JuliaFEARJules / Julie l - nee Mills - died peacefully at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Saturday 22nd March 2025 at 19:30 with her family around her, holding her hands. Jules was a wonderful, intelligent, beautiful and clever person, and we all loved and adored her massively, and her passing has left a huge space in our hearts and lives.
Jules was very proud of her three children, Bryon, Dawn and Graham, and Bryon’s and Dawn’s partners, Mat and Jay.She was also an amazing and adoring granny to Kai. Jules was a Kentish farmers daughter with a huge range of home making skills, with lots of tenacity and common sense in solving life’s diverse problems.
Jules started out as a nanny, then got her SRN in orthopaedic and general nursing. Jules married Andy, an RAF ground engineer, in 1969, and the three children followed in 1971, 1972 and 1975. While in Scotland she became a professional knitter of Shetland Originals. She came to Wales in 1983 and soon joined the Ynys Môn social sevices team helping with peoples care at home.. Jules went to Scotland for a couple of years in 1990s working as a bank nurse. Then in 1995 Jules health deteriorated and being back in Wales, she became a patient of Ysbyty Gwynedd who replaced both hips in 1996. She nursed Andy through a debilitating depression in the 2000s, by which time the hips needed replacing again.
All was well again until the late 2010s, and by the time covid hit, she had been hospitalised a couple of times. During covid Jules was again hospitalised, (catching covid on one visit), but a successful diagnosis followed soon after. Jules had a calcified pericardium. Open heart surgery gave us four extra years with Jules, but it wasn’t a cure, although life improved for a while. But in February 2025 Jules was brought to a standstill by her heart condition and she agreed to give the staff at Ysbyty Gwynedd one last chance at finding some remission. She was tough and brave, but her body wouldn’t adapt. Jules died after five weeks of medical care and eight days of palliative care. The Ysbyty Gwynedd staff were brilliant and we thank them for their work with all our hearts.
