Danny D. What a legend he was - Danny was a man whose endless energy, great personality and sense of fun filled a room with laughter and joy.
His radio shows, whether recorded in a studio or, latterly at home, reached a global audience as he shared them with internet radio stations around the world.
Of course, my personal attachment to Danny (as he was fondly referred to) came from our fundraising stunts for BBC Children In Need.
Twice, Danny set new Guinness World Records for "the longest DJ performance live, using vinyl records" which he set in Chicago Rock Cafe Yeovil and then Zero Nightclub Basingstoke. Of course, others went on to beat it but we raised thousands for charity and entertained many hundreds of partygoers who joined in the fun.
Danny's live DJ sets across the South West were always a joy. He could fill a room with laughter and fun.
But it was when he teamed up with the irrepressible Tony Temple on the live stages promoting Yeovil's YDR frm Radio bid for the local radio station licence that sticks in my memory. The pair of them were often outrageous - persuading random people to fill their mouths with marshmallows and performing silly stunts. I would ache from the laughter for days afterwards.
The loss of DJ Danny D. leaves a huge gap in radio land and those of us who knew him, loved him and were entertained by the "little fella" over many years, send our love to his family, friends and listeners across the globe.
