Janice HelenFITZGERALDJanice Helen Fitzgerald, a loving and courageous woman who embraced life with an open heart, passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas, on February 26, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Leicester, England, on August 12, 1940, Janice's adventurous spirit led her across the world, shaping a life filled with love, service, and cherished memories. In 1959, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, as a personal nanny, where fate introduced her to the love of her life, William "Bill" Joseph Fitzgerald. The two married on April 4, 1964, beginning a 60-year journey together marked by unwavering devotion, shared adventures, and a deep love for their family. Janice, affectionally known as Nanny by her loving grandchildren, was the proud and cherished matriarch of her family, adored by her children, Ian, Alison (Matt), and Derek (Carolyn), and treasured by her grandchildren, Zoe, Antonia, Sophie, Liam, Holly, Cole, Lily, and Ellie. Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her loved ones, especially children - her greatest passion. She had a rare gift for making every child feel special, safe, and deeply loved. Born with a traveler's soul, Janice embraced every journey with passion and curiosity. Alongside Bill and her family, she explored countless destinations worldwide and across the United States. Of all the breathtaking places she visited, the ocean always called to her most - whether walking up the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach, taking in the stunning coastal view, or sitting at the water's edge with her feet in the sea, the beach was where she found her greatest peace. Janice lived life with enthusiasm and grace, finding joy in both grand adventures and simple pleasures. She was an avid golfer, a skilled knitter, and a dedicated advocate for children, always seeking ways to make the world a kinder place. Her warmth, generosity, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who loved her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that Janice's remarkable journey continues beyond this world, her spirit forever present in the waves she loved, the laughter of children, and the enduring love of her family. In place of flowers, a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
