I’ve known Anne Marie for many years now. From the very first moment my son moved to Glasgow to be with Barbara in 2008, she helped him to settle in Scotland. She adopted him like a son in her family, which was a blessing for him and for my peace of mind in Barcelona.
Since then we have met up many times, in Glasgow and in Catalonia, sharing food and wine and laughs, always at ease together. She was a cheerful, generous person, ready to help and to make friends. We have enjoyed many moments of joy, among them the big ones: Joaquim and Barbara’s wedding and the births of Pep and Xavi.
She was wonderful at helping people to feel together. I remember her reading a poem she had written in Catalan for the wedding, making everybody smile and laugh. I will always recall her passion for life, her friendly conversation, her enthusiastic hugs.
With Jim and Jaume, my husband, we settled up a whatsapp group, which we called ‘Super iaos’ meaning ‘Fantastic grandparents’, a chat to feel like a team of grandparents, ready to care for Pep and Xavi. Anne Marie was a terrific grandma. I am sure that Michael, Pep, Rae and Xavi will keep happy memories of her.
Anne Marie will be deeply missed by Jaume and I, but she will remain at the bottom of our hearts as a much loved one.
Rest in peace.
