The obituary notice of Eric GENT

I only knew Eric as a young man when he used to visit my parents home in Droylsden. They were his aunt and uncle and he was I believe named after my dad Eric. As myself and my two sisters were extremely shy we avoided contact with the opposite sex but our cousin Eric was also a shy person and so we liked him even though he was only a few years older than we were. Like most families, all go their separate ways and although we heard about Eric via the grapevine, that he had got married and had two daughters we will mostly remember him as the shy teenage youngster in our back garden. Many years later my mum would say he was a brilliant decorator after finishing work on her living room. He seems to have had a lovely gentle nature and the world is less of a place without him in it. Eric was a gentleman. He thought the world of his own family and spoke with great love about them all and enjoyed letting us know how they were getting on and what they were doing. He cared a great deal for them and showed it. He always had the time to talk and ask how we were as a family as well, keeping us in his thoughts and interested in how our own family was growing up. He will be deeply missed and our kind thoughts are with his family.
