GIRVANGerald James (04/01/1924 - 07/06/1993) The sport of Kings, my father, an Adonis of the playing field, simply the personification of the notion of the dashing, distinguished and daring polo player living the high life on the game's global circuit. His grace in the saddle was drawn from a keen understanding of the game's history and traditions. The world of Polo seems almost impossibly glamorous: a private elite club of millionaires and royals, of champagne parties and horses. the spectator sport for the world's champagne set. It is a sport that requires horsemanship of the highest calibre, a guts and glory high adrenalin sport, fast, furious, skilful and aggressive, featuring an awesome alliance between human and horse. As for that such a beauteous trophy! Fond memories will live forever with all fortunate enough to have been a recipient of his generosity, spirit and his unbridled sense of humour. I love you so, adored daughter, Irene Girvan
