FrederickGREASLEYPassed away peacefully on Tuesday 28th February 2025, aged 86 years.
Fred Greasley, the beloved son of the late Bill and Annie Greasley, and cherished brother to Joan, passed away after a life filled with kindness, community, and service. Fred was born and raised in Stanley, where he became well-known for his family's role as licensees of the Rose and Crown.
In addition to his family's pub legacy, Fred was a dedicated volunteer at Gladstone Pottery Museum, where he gave his time generously, sharing his passion for local history and heritage with visitors and fellow volunteers. His commitment to preserving the past was a testament to his deep connection with the community and his love for the area's traditions.
Fred will be remembered for his warmth, his good humour, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met.
A service to celebrate his life will take place at St Chads Church in Bagnall on Thursday 27th February at 10:15am. All those wishing to attend are kindly requested to meet at the Church.
Family flowers only, but donations in memory of Fred can be made to Bradwell Hall Nursing Home, who provided him with outstanding care in his final months.
Fred will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
