PhyllisHARGREAVESpassed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 2.
Born in Holmfirth on January 31, 1935, Phyllis moved to Haslingden with her parents when she was 14.
A much-loved wife to the late Stanley, mother to Christine and the late Elizabeth, mother-in-law to Christopher. Nana to Matthew and partner, Louise and partner Steve, Samuel and partner Ruth, Harry and Thomas. Great-nana to Lillie, Charlie, Noah, Frankie and Teddy.
Most of her working life was spent initially as a weaver, then as a secretary to the family business, retiring in 2021. Living at Hazelgrove the family home for 57 years. She was a member of the NSPCC Haslingden Branch and a founder committee member of the Friends of Helmshore Textiles Museums. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, brass band music, cruise holidays, and life at their caravan in the South Lakes.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 30, officiated by Rev’d Judith Balkwell, 1.30pm at St James Parish Church, Haslingden, then at Accrington Crematorium at 3pm.
Family flowers only thank you. Donations in Phyllis’ memory are welcome for Derian House or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
