For My Grandad
The chair you loved now sits so still,
Yet somehow feels as though it will
Hold your laughter one more day,
Though time has gently called you away.
The hands that guided, strong and kind,
Left lasting footprints on my mind.
The words you spoke, the life you gave,
Are treasures time can never take.
I miss the sound of your warm hello,
The quiet comfort I'd always know.
The stories shared, the smiles we knew,
The world feels different without you.
Though tears may fall and hearts may ache,
Love is something death can't take.
For every lesson, every embrace,
Still lives within this time and place.
When evening paints the fading sky,
I'll think of you as birds fly by.
I'll see your strength in every tree,
Your kindness in the endless sea.
So rest in peace, dear Grandad mine,
Beyond the reach of space and time.
Until the day we meet once more,
You'll live within my heart forevermore.
