Kathleen MaryJONESKathleen Mary Jones (née Baigent) passed away on Sunday 8 June 2025 at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. Kathleen was born at the Maternity Home in Oriental Road, Woking on 14 November 1928 and is survived by her four children, Vivien, Ian, Trevor and Andrew; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Church, Church Lane, Send at 10am on Monday 23 June 2025 followed by a burial at the Send Cemetery, Send Hill, Send.
Kathleen lived at Hillside Farm, Farm Lane, Send until she was married in St. Mary's Church Send to her husband Albert Edward Jones (pre deceased in 2001) on 31 December 1949; probably not realising that their 50th wedding anniversary would be on the last day of the Millennium, 31 December 1999. Together, they spent their entire lives in the Send, Woking, Guildford area, with Kathleen a school teacher at Send Church of England Infants School, Send Barns Lane, Send from its opening in 1958 until the mid 1970s.
Kathleen sang in the church choir at Send St Mary's Church for over 20 years and sang many times in Guildford Cathedral as a member of the Guildford Coral Society. In addition to singing, Kathleen was a keen pianist, water colour artist and gardener.
In recent years due to declining health, Kathleen was confined to her home on the Hogs Back, Guildford. As singing, painting, gardening and playing the piano faded, she became an expert on Midsomer murders, an avid England cricket fan and an connoisseur on the Formula 1.
She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
