Ronald EdwardKINGSadly, Ronald Edward King, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 94 years old. His life was a mix of joy, love, family, and challenges, but he was always a fighter, right until the end of his life. He was a social man; willing to have tough conversations, if needed, but always had time for those he called his friends. He loved his village of Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottingham. This was his home for over 40 years and his jaunts into the village kept his spirits alive. He began his work life at 14 years old as a mail boy with a Nottingham Lace company, Simon May & Co. Ltd. He told the story that he turned 14 on the Friday and went to work on the Monday. He built his career with them and was a loyal employee for 51 years, ending up as a sales director, making many friends along the way. Loyalty was something he admired in others and strove to uphold himself. He had a brief time in World War II in the army, after losing two older brothers in the Royal Air Force, Frederick and Arthur King. The war years were not easy, as he lost his father, David King, during that time. His father inspired him to be the avid gardener that he was. He loved his home and his garden and passed many of his skills and knowledge to his daughters, Denise, Pauline, and Lesley, as well as his step daughters, Susan and Julie. He had lived alone these past twenty plus years, after the passing of his beloved wife, Joan Ruth King. They loved to travel together and visit family all across the world. He continued that tradition until it was all too much for him. He will be greatly missed by his family, which also includes 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, many of whom have taken up his love of sport, especially football and cricket, and his love of gardening, travel, and the outdoors. We thank all those, especially his neighbours, friends, and other key family members, who watched out for him these past years, particularly during the challenges of the pandemic. He has left a legacy that will continue on through his family and friends. He is the last of his generation and family, being preceded in passing by his other brothers Ralph and Eric, and his sister Joan. It is not goodbye, but "see you down the road". The family will be having a funeral service and gathering of family and friends in the upcoming months to celebrate Ron's life, when travel is possible for all the family, many of whom live abroad. The family will make an announcement on this once the date is confirmed. Denise, Pauline, Lesley, Susan and Julie
