Rest in power, Mr Lake. You were one of my favourite teachers. Thank you for leaving a lasting impact on me. You really will be missed.

Mr Lake (as I knew him) was a teacher who left an impact like few others. He once wrote on a piece of fiction I'd written in my year 5 class, that I had a 'flair for writing'. Words of encouragement like that often have a power beyond what the person who said them intended. I now write for a living. I will for the rest of my life. Ben Lake had a part to play in fostering that gift. I'm sad to hear of his passing. I hope that those who knew him closely can take comfort that he is remembered in this way and had an impact on my life.

May God bless you Mr Lake, just how God blessed your students back in 2003/04 by making you our Year 3 Teacher

Might sound typical of a message to say you were ‘my favourite teacher’ so I’ll say something different. You were the only teacher who never told me off…. The only teacher to ever push my creative side… the only teacher who had fun engaging lessons. Granted the lessons were probably colouring in and drawing, but nonetheless, you made learning fun and I thank you for that

My fondest memory was your love for the BFG, and then pestering me every year to borrow my VHS Copy! Even when I had left StPeters and was in Year 7 at LCS!!!! I’m sure you still have it!
Oh…yes… it was me who shouted ‘Mr Lake, you look like the BFG’… I’m glad we managed to sort that 19 year old mystery out

I still remember your April Fools Quiz prank on the whole class… and the time you made us believe you found a super explosive rock in the ‘Rock Box’…. scared the absolute life out of us…. Only for it to be yellow chalk!

You were a very passionate teacher who loved each of your students dearly

A long time has passed since you taught me and soon a long time will have passed since I’ve written this message

I was very much saddened with your news
I’m sorry I didn’t make more of an effort to reach out before you departed us, would have loved to have caught up with you.

I wish your friends are family are at ease, knowing your soul has merged back home with our one creator
