The obituary notice of Parker LINDSEY

Parker was the kind of man that restored my faith in humamity, thank you for all of the moments of light you brought into my life ❤️

I first met Parker in the late nineteen seventies when I was a very young aspiring referee, still being at school at the time. Parker was one of Scunthorpe’s most senior and well-respected referees, having a major influence in the area through his position and work within The Scunthorpe & District Referees Association. People like Parker were an inspiration to local referees of that era, myself included. I can still recall words of wisdom that he passed down, that no doubt helped me to eventually forge a career in the professional game, and others to simply better enjoy their football. Parker had both personality and charisma in abundance, making him a truly likeable person. There will be many referees and former referees who will have very fond memories of Parker.

Jim and I met Parker through the North Lincs Stroke Group meetings at The George in Barton and Gill's Tearoom in Scunthorpe. He was a great guy and had lots of interesting tales about being a former football referee and life in general. He will be very much missed at our monthly gatherings.

I knew Parker for a short time through the stroke visits to Gills and The George Inn. Lovely man and I loved hearing about his family-his life and his involvement with his choir. A few times he has let me listen to the group singing at different engagements-just wonderful.
