The funeral service for Margaret Emily May Lobb, aged 94 years of Oak Ridge, Little Polgooth, St Austell was held at St Mewan Parish Church on 20th August 2026. The Reverend Paul Salaman officiated, followed by a burial.

Margaret passed away peacefully at Beech Lodge care home on 26th July 2026.

Margaret was born in Foxhole on 22nd October 1931 to Dorothy and Leonard Bunney, they then moved to the Gorran area where her sister Enid was born. The family then settled at Boswinger. Margaret attended Gorran school until the age of 14 where later she returned to work in the kitchen and became the head cook.

Margaret met her husband John in 1952. They then married in 1955 and lived at Lanhadron Farm, St Ewe.

In 1956 Margaret and John welcomed their first child Susan, followed by David in 1959 and Sharon in 1969. Later they were delighted to have eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Margaret was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

She really enjoyed the farm life and worked hard supporting John. She also ran a successful bed and breakfast business where guests returned year after year and many became life long friends. Margaret was known for her wonderful food; especially her delicious pasties and cakes.

In 1986 Margaret and John moved with their younger daughter, Sharon, to Oak Ridge in Little Polgooth for their semi-retirement. Margaret got immense pleasure from feeding and watching the birds in her garden.

Margaret and John had some wonderful holidays during this period but Margaret's heart was always at home with her family. She would always prioritise the needs of others before her own.

John passed away in 2024. By this time Margaret was quite frail and unable to live independently which was proving very difficult for her. She moved to Beech Lodge care home where she was able to socialise and have the care she needed until she passed away.

Margaret will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and will be missed by all her family and friends.

Family mourners were:
Susan Bonney - Daughter, David and Michele Lobb - Son and Daughter-in-law, Sharon and Paul Dalby - Daughter and Son-in-law, Enid and Colin Barbary - Sister and Brother-in-law, Shelley Rose - Granddaughter, Ryan and Shelley - Grandson and wife, Josh and Becky - Grandson and wife, Lizz - Granddaughter, Hannah and Lucas - Granddaughter and Husband, James, Matthew and Adam - Grandsons, and many more family, friends, neighbours and carers were also in attendance.

A retiring collection was held for donations in Margaret's memory for Alzheimer's Research UK and Dementia Regional Group. A total of £546.25 was raised.

Funeral arrangements were carried out by Mrs Stacey Lambert, Paul Bourton Funeral Service, St Austell.
