I started on Post Office Telecoms as an apprentice the same day as John, at Leek Road TEC. Even though we went to different departments after our apprenticeships, our paths crossed many times at BT. Our paths crossed again when he left to maintain the phones for Staffs Police. He was always a happy go lucky character. It was so sad to hear of his passing.

Sending my condolences to John's family, I only knew John as a customer of mine when he'd get his shopping, we'd always have a good chat. He'd always get me a birthday card as my birthday was the week after his, he was so sweet and gentle and always made me laugh. Rest easy now john..you'll forever be missed x

John was a hood friend and colleague during our time at Post Office Telecoms. The picture is when we won the 5 a side competition at Keele back in the 70s. John is on the left
