I had the pleasure of meeting Chris through my time volunteering with Caerphilly Athletic. Chris was the heart and soul of Caerphilly Athletic and his unwavering commitment to the Club was second to none. He welcomed everyone into the Club and made them feel like a long-standing friend from the day he met them. His absence leaves an immeasurable void.
Week in and week out, home or away, Chris was there, offering his time, energy, and kindness. Whether helping in the changing rooms, organising kit, or bringing snacks for half-time, no task was too small for Chris. His dedication extended beyond match days - he was a valued friend and a pillar of support to players, coaches, and fellow volunteers.
Despite battling ill health in recent years, Chris never let his struggles affect his commitment. Through rain or shine, he remained a constant, always showing up with a smile and an encouraging word. His passion for the game and the people around him embodied the true spirit of grassroots football.
Chris Marsden's legacy at Caerphilly Athletic is one of selflessness, friendship, and an unyielding love for the Club. Chris was a man who gave so much and asked for nothing in return. The fantastic memories and heartfelt tributes show how respected and loved he is by so many, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
