There are some people who leave this world a little brighter simply because they were in it. Uncle David was one of those people.
Life handed him more than his share of pain, yet he chose something far more remarkable. He chose faith. He chose kindness. He chose to love people anyway. He lived his life as a true example of what it means to follow God, not only in words, but in every action. He quietly served others, whether it was helping at church, looking after his neighbors, caring for the elderly, or simply being there whenever someone needed him. He never seemed to ask what he could get from the world; he only asked how he could give to it.
I will never be able to thank him enough for the way he loved and protected my Mom throughout their lives. He wasn’t just her big brother—he was her safe place and best friend. Knowing how deeply he cared for her has always brought comfort, and it always will.
Uncle David showed us that strength isn’t found in anger or bitterness, it is found in compassion, grace, forgiveness, and unwavering faith. He was a walking example of God’s love on this earth, and everyone who knew him was better because of it.
He leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by achievements, but by the countless lives he touched with his gentle heart. I will miss him more than words can ever say, but will carry his example with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you, Uncle David, for loving us so well. Heaven has gained a truly beautiful soul.
With all my love,
Victoria xx
