The obituary notice of Heather MCLEAY

We have lost a really good friend who will be sadly missed by us all for her charm, wit and warmth. Jan, Dan and family x

Fifty one years ago Heather became a much loved friend and greatly valued colleague in the Maths department at St George’s in Rome. She was vibrant and fun loving and able also to do so many other things brilliantly well, including being a wonderful host and pretty good at dressmaking too! After a few years of losing touch we have since delighted in renewing our old friendship with meet-ups and stay overs and recognising that Heather was just as full of colour and ability as ever. Memories of much laughter and fun times with her and Stu, both old and new. We so wish we had had the pleasure of more years to enjoy her lovely company. Heather, we will greatly miss you.

We enjoyed several years in Sydney with Heather in the nineties. Always smiling, stylish and lively, Heather was a joy to be with. She was fortunate to be both left-brained and right-brained. Her PhD in Mathematics and her artistic endeavours in later life remind us of this. She was generous in sharing her knowledge and skills to all who knew her.

Oh Heather- our dear, lovely friend Heather. We will miss you so much. We are so lucky that our paths have crossed so many times over the years- countries we’ve lived in, New Years’ together with friends and children, holidays together, time spent together, coffees together. We will miss so many things but especially your little smile and giggle.
