Lasting Tribute for Jacquelyn Rita MCLEOD

BOWBROOK SCHOOL FOR GIRLS

Miss J. McLeod joined the staff of Bowbrook School in September 1972 , straight from college. She settled down rapidly as part of a team of four Mistresses teaching housecraft .
She has great depths of maturity and her quiet, business-like manner and pleasant smile have made her readily acceptable to Staff and girls alike. In addition to teaching her own subject to C.S.E. level, she has proved herself a capable and efficient form mistress, having taken charge of an awkward group of fourth year girls and steered them into their fifth year with tact, firmness and affection. She has also taken a very active part in organising and running a Social Service group for the girls.
She is ever willing to help, be it in catering for a school function; taking charge of other groups in the absence of a colleague, or caring for a sick girl. Whatever she does, she does well, and it is not surprising therefore that she has been invited to become second in the Housecraft Department when this school merges with another, in September 1975, to become Comprehensive.
I wish her well in the future and will be interested in the course of her career, as I feel that she has nowhere nearly reached her full potential.

How Jackie would have loved today, the celebrations, gratitude to our War veterans, sharing memories, no doubt adding her own very unique twist to the day. Oh how she put her heart and soul into every special event.Seeing the poppies broke my heart strangely, not only for their true meaning, but because Jackie got one for me. I treasure it with every ounce of my heart. Goodness knows how she got it, I tried and there were none at all!! Yet again she worked her beautiful magic, thank you Jackie. Love and miss you always dear friend. Ally. X

Miss Jacquelyn McLeod was a pupil at this school from 1962 until 1969 during which time she created a most favourable impression in every way.
She obtained her examination results through consistently hard work and always showed stability and dependability of character. Jacquelyn was a quiet and charming girl but well able to hold her place with her contemporaries. She matured considerably in the Sixth Form and became a most successful Head Girl.
We had no hesitation in recommending her for a Training College place and rated her suitability for the teaching profession as good.
I feel confident that she has profited from her training and that there is every prospect of her becoming a welcome addition to the profession.

HALF TERM.........
......February 1975 we drove up to North Wales for a few days, first time for Jacquelyn, slept in the van, ice inside in the mornings. We trekked up one of the Snowdon paths and got about half way to the summit, Jacquelyn in her blue wellington boots she had bought for the trip-not ideal footwear !. Meeting a chap on his way down the mountain we were advised of the icy conditions above, with that and the lateness of the hour we made our way down, even so, a good outing followed by hot food in some eatery; lunch at our high point had included a tin of cold sardines. Not sure what else we did, drove around the mountain roads and sights. Back to London was through Mid-Wales, deserted roads in dramatic landscapes arriving about 2am the next day. The first of countless expeditions we made together, usually with better accommodation.

Remembering Jacquelyn today and always as a wonderful, happy, caring person and such fun to be around. Grateful that you were in my life and will never forget all the fun times spent with you. Love you for ever and miss you greatly. Moira
