Philip JamesMEADEPhilip James Meade sadly passed away on 22nd of February 2025 aged 85 years.

Philip will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will take place for Philip on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 at 3:30pm. The service will be held in the Willow Chapel at Cheltenham Crematorium.

Donations in memory of Philip are gratefully received and will go to benefit The Woodland Trust and The English Heritage Trust. Donations may be left in the retiring collection box following the service or sent c/o Alexander Burn 436 High Street Cheltenham GL50 3JA.

Since learning of Phil's passing I have advised many within the chess community.
Their has been more tributes than I can mention & clearly beyond the boarders of Cheltenham Phil was recognised for his attributes.
Phil was more than a great chess player & servant to the UK.
He was a keen crossword completer and walker.
Phil is much missed by the West of England Chess Union and we intend to pay a small tribute to Phil at the Cotswold Chess Congress in May
