I have just recently heard of the passing of my dearest friend of whom i had not heard of for many a year but of whom I held dearest memories, laughs, and many many good times together.
Fred and I walked together and shared this passion, and had numerous conversations about almost everything.
I shall miss him so very much he was like an older brother to me, and looked after me when I first joined the Ramblers Association.
I lost contact with him when he left Birtley and went to live in Ryton, but I knew he was happy and content in his new life.
I shall miss him so very much. A good steadfast and reliable friend.
I can still see you now striding confidently across the Allendale Challenge Route like the old Coldstream Guard you always were.
Rest in peace my dear dear friend.
You will not be forgotten.
David.
