Dr Michael JMOOREMOORE DR MICHAEL J. Michael John Moore, Power Engineer, died peacefully at home on 22nd December aged 81 years. He was the beloved husband of Beryl from 1960 until her death in 2006, and the devoted father of David and Paul, and grandfather of six. Michael Moore grew up in Cornwall, where he met his future wife Beryl at school. They both attended the University of Birmingham, where Michael studied Mechanical Engineering, obtaining his PhD in 1965. He then took a position as a Research Scientist at the Central Electricity Research Laboratories in Leatherhead, where he became Head of the Thermodynamics Section, retiring in 1990. In retirement Michael became Editor of the Journal of Power and Energy, and pursued many interests including golf and bridge. In 1999 Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, with which he coped remarkably well for almost two decades. Michael will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
