A Tribute to my Aunty Shirley

Although I can’t be there in person on Tuesday, I wanted to share a few words about my Aunty Shirley, who meant so much to me.

Aunty Shirley meant everything to me. She was one of a kind — full of fun, style, and love. I carry with me so many fond memories: her joy of shopping like me, her competitive streak in a good card game, her absolute devotion to a perfectly made bacon sandwich and a good cup of tea. She had a taste for the finer things too — I loved her fancy Jag cars and the way her home was filled with more Lladro than a Lladro store!

She loved her dogs fiercely, and travelled the world with curiosity and adventure in her heart.

We shared some great times together, especially on walks through the Lake District and along Balmoral Beach whenever she came to visit us in Australia. Those visits with her and Arthur were always full of laughs and like no time passed between the last time we were together. She genuinely loved being here, surrounded by her brother — my dad — and all the family. That bond between us all was strong, no matter the distance.

I’m incredibly grateful for the memories we made and the time we had together.

Aunty Shirley, you meant the absolute world to me, I loved you deeply and always will. ❤️
