AgnesNOLANof Cowpe Road, Waterfoot died suddenly in Fairfield hospital on Sunday, December 15, aged 86. Requiem Mass was held at St Joseph's and St Peter's RC Church, Newchurch on Friday, December 27 at 11am, followed by interment in Rawtenstall cemetery at 12.15pm conducted by Father P Boast. Born in Ecclestone near Chorley, Agnes moved to Rossendale over 70 years ago. She met her husband Francis whilst working at Newchurch Boot Company, Globe Mills. She was employed as a nursery nurse at St Saviour's and Sharneyford schools and retired from St Mary's RC, Bacup. She enjoyed artwork, painting and holidays in Scotland. Agnes and her husband also attended many conferences with the National Association of Head Teachers in different parts of the country, but mainly enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family. Widow of the late Francis, who died 20 years ago, she leaves daughter Sheila and her husband Duncan, daughter Janet, son David and his wife Margaret, son Paul and his wife Marion, six grandchildren, sisters Julia and Kathleen, brother George, nephews, nieces and many friends. Donations in lieu to Rossendale Hospice. Funeral director: Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Ltd, Bacup.
