May it be a comfort to your family to know that others care and that in your life you brought kindness, thoughtfulness and joy to others.

A lovely man, happiest with nature, talking with others and having time with family and friends when he could.

So glad I knew you godfather,

Peter took me under his wing when I moved to Fire Research and Testing in 1982. He was very friendly and kind and helped me to settle in when I moved from from my original job at British Gypsum. He trained me to carry out a variety of fire tests and I now train others to do them.

I remember him singing hymns (very loudly) whilst wearing breathing apparatus and making observations at the back of the furnace. He hadn't realised that we could hear him over the equipment noise!
I'm glad to hear that he didn't lose his taste for marmalade..... we munched our way through tons of toast and marmalade, collected from the works canteen.
I already knew his family, having been friends with Mark at school. We lived on the same road when everybody knew everybody..... and everything about them!
Peter was always smiling and loved a good gossip!  He worked hard, did anything that was asked of him and liked to help people. Lovely man!

It was a pleasure meeting such a gentleman who put smiles on our faces, greeting us with a warm welcome every morning.
We could never forget someone who could eat as many marmalade sandwiches as you could which is where you got your nickname from. I’m sorry for cutting eyebrows (which I got into trouble for from Kelly) but Mark made me do it :)
Meeting your loving family who all cared so much and being with you until your very last moments.
We hope you’re enjoying your allotments up there and eating even more marmalade sandwiches, you’ll forever be in our hearts.
Lots of love

My dad would always read the obituaries in the Echo and Evening post, so fitting tribute to have his put in the Echo.
He was a man who liked to be outside and loved being in the garden. He had a lovely smile with a twinkle in his eyes and was happy to talk to anyone as he walked through the village. Every year as the daffodils begin to shoot I think, and I will think especially of Dad.Thanks a million Dad and keep smiling!
